Our History

Local 406-C originally belonged to Local 2 of the IPP&AU in  New York City . In 1947 Local 2 decided to leave Newsday for various reasons. Local 406-C then requested and was granted a Charter within the International Printing Pressmen's and Assistant’s  Union  (IPP&AU). In 1983 the IPP&AU merged with the Graphics Arts International Union (GAIU) and we became Local 406-C of the Graphics Communication International Union (GCIU).  In 2005 the GCIU merged with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union (IBT) and we are known today as Local 406-C of the Graphic Communication Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union (GCC/IBT).
